MOSQUES

Cezayirli Mosque: The Mosque was built by Cezayirli Hasan Pasha (Hasan Pasha of Algiers) in 1791. Hasan Pasha was an Ottoman grand vizier, Kaptan Pasha and an army commander of the late 18th century. Kemer Bridge, Pasha Inn on Yayla road and Aqueducts in Yaka village were also acquired to Fethiye by Hasan Pasha.

TURKISH BATHS (HAMAMS)

Historical Fethiye Hamam: The Turkish Bath, together with the Mosque situated nearby, were built by Yavuz Sultan Selim in 1651 on a location called Paspatur, the Old City offering pedestrianised area with many beautiful restaurants for eating out and shops selling traditional Turkish items, carpets, leather, textile, jewellery, herbs & spices, souvenirs etc. This traditional Turkish bath built on an area of 430 m2 has two separate sections, one for men and other for women. The Historical Fethiye Hamam, this fine example of Ottoman architecture consisting of 14 domes placed on six vaults, still continue to serve today.

INNS

The leading inns of Fethiye are the Ilıca Inn (on the Üzümlü road), İncir Inn, Karatoprak Inn (on the İnbecik road), Pasha Inn on the Kemer-Seki road, Daydur Inn and the Naldöken Inn.

CHURCHES

Lower Church (Panayia Pirgiotissa Church) : The Lower Church, originally called Panayia Pirgiotissa, is located at the west end of the Kayaköy, Fethiye district, and is better preserved than the other church in the village. This is mainly due to its having been in use as a mosque until the 1960s. The courtyard, surrounded by high walls, is reached through a door to the east. The floor of the atrium is paved with mosaics made of pebbles, just like the Upper Church. On the mosaics at the pediment of the door which leads to the interior from the north, the date of 1888 is legible. The inscription above the door indicates that this is the date when a large-scale restoration was carried out on the building; therefore this is not the date of actual construction.

Upper Church (Taksiyarhis Church) : The Upper Church, originally called Taksiyarhis, is located on a dominant hill in the middle of Kayaköy, Fethiye. Althought the date of construction is unknown, it is thought to be built before the Lower Church. The atrium is surrounded by high walls and the floor is covered with geometrically designed mosaics made of black and white pebbles. The church is built mostly with compressed stones with smooth surfaces and covered with a lime plaster. The outside is covered with a thick layer of pink plaster. In the inner part of the church, the wall painted icons and frescos have been destroyed and in a worse condition compared to outside.
