And Ölüdeniz is one of these beauties. These beauties need to be seen and observed by everybody.”

Koçaklar also telling that they have been laying special emphasis on tourism in Muğla said, “We put forth great efforts especially for the protection of our virgin bays and coves. We invite people in Turkey and people living in different parts of the world to come and see the natural beauties of Muğla.”

With Ölüdeniz Beach becoming first in the public survey on ‘The most beautiful beach in the World’ held by the German newspaper called ‘The Bild’, it has been proved once again that Ölüdeniz is the most favoured holiday destination of Turkey and the world.”

Yılmaz telling that they live in one of the heavenly places on earth continued, “I would like to thank to all the holidaymakers who supported us. This result is very good both for Ölüdeniz and Turkey. It gave a boost to our morale for the new tourism season which we have started in a downcast mood. We now expect to welcome even more tourists to Ölüdeniz in this year and the years ahead.”

BEACHES WITH BLUE FLAG IN ÖLÜDENİZ

There are 3 beaches with the Blue Flag in Ölüdeniz and 2 of them are held by beaches managed by hotels. Kumburnu Natural Park, the beach mostly favoured by tourists and named as the “Blue Lagoon” by them, was awarded with the blue flag in 2005 and has been operated by a company established within the Muğla Governorship, Authority for Protection of Special Areas. In accordance with a decision taken in May of 2000, the motor boats are not allowed to enter into the lagoon on the grounds of protecting the area.

The area within 100 metres into the lagoon waters off the beach of Kumburnu Natural Park is under basin protection and continuous studies are carried out to keep this area clean constantly. No building is allowed in Ölüdeniz Natural Park, which is designated as Special Environment Conservation Area and 1st Degree Natural Site. Authorities emphasized that Kumburnu Natural Park was awarded with the Blue Flag as a consequence of the intensive efforts put forth by the Muğla Governorship since year 2000.

SABAH NEWSPAPER: Ölüdeniz is in world top 5!
A university researcher from Britain has developed an authentic formula to identify the best beach destinations in the world. The new mathematical formula for what makes the perfect holiday says that Ölüdeniz from Turkey is the fifth best beach in the world.

Special FormulaJust about everyday another newspaper is identifying ‘the best beaches in the world”. But no one knows under which criteria these selections are based on. In an effort to find a solution to this problem, Dr Dimitrios Buhalis of the University Of Surrey, in conjunction with Opodo.co.uk, the pan-European travel company, has developed an interesting formula in order to make a healthy selection. In his formula, he has taken into account several criteria including scenery and hospitality of local people as well as more measurable qualities such as its facilities, activities, weather, and length.Agencies disapprovedWhen the formula was applied to over 250 resorts worldwide, the Tuscan Riviera, Italy topped the list as the ideal beach destination, closely followed by Tarifa, Spain as the second, South Beach, Miami as the third, St Ives in Cornwall, UK, the fourth and Ölüdeniz from Turkey as the fifth. But tourism agencies in general told that they considered the formula far from being convincing.
